Daddy Ball

Nothing makes my eyes roll harder than Daddy Ball. You know the scene—the shortstop who didn’t earn the position, the “ace” pitcher who can’t throw a strike. It ruins the experience for everyone. Parents get frustrated. Teammates lose motivation. And most importantly, some talented kids never get the chance to reach their full potential.

But what if the tables were turned?

What if you were the one getting the favor? What if you were handed a role, a gift, or a shot you didn’t fully earn? Would you embrace it—or feel guilty and try to pass it off to someone “more deserving”?

Here’s the truth: we all have a Heavenly Father who shows us favor we could never earn. He’s waiting to provide, guide, and bless us in ways we can’t fully imagine. When we place our trust in Him—when we give Him our hopes, needs, and dreams—He is faithful to respond. Not because we deserve it, but because that’s who He is: a good Father.

Scripture tells us that God wants us to thrive, to grow strong, and to live with bold confidence in His care.

Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NIV)
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Ephesians 1:3 (NIV)
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Psalm 84:11 (NIV)
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”

Let’s pray

Dear Heavenly Father,
As we think about our earthly fathers, we’re reminded of how much more we should praise You. You show us the perfect love of a perfect Father. Help us see Your hand in our daily lives—Your provision, protection, guidance, and grace. Thank You for hearing our prayers and staying faithful to every promise in Your Word.

In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.

This weekend, share the truth that comfort, hope and peace come through prayer and trusting in God. Remind your family, friends and teammates that we often feel stressed and overwhelmed when we overthink and believe it’s all up to us. The truth is, every care, worry and sorrow can be handed over to God—and in return, He gives us confidence, joy and peace.

Blessings In Christ,
The Team at Bibles and Baseball
