Baseball and Apple Pie

America. We love our apple pie, baseball, and freedom. Today, we celebrate the freedoms we’ve been blessed with—freedoms granted by God and protected by those who’ve served our country.

This weekend at the ballpark, we’ll enjoy America’s pastime and the freedom to live, speak, and worship as we choose.

But if you’ve given your life to Christ and accepted Him as your Savior, you’ve been given something even greater than American freedom—you have freedom in Christ.

Freedom in Christ means we’re no longer chained to the power or penalty of sin. Because of Jesus ’death and resurrection, we’re not stuck in pride, selfishness, or greed. We’ve been set free to love, forgive, and serve.

We’re free to live lives that actually matter—lives that impact our families, our teammates, and everyone around us.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” — Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” — John 13:35 (NLV

Let’s pray

Lord,

We come to You today humbled and grateful. Thank You for allowing us to live in a country where we are free to worship You. Thank You for the gift of salvation and the freedom from sin through Jesus. Help us to use our freedom well—to show Your love and grace to the people around us. And help us feel that peace and freedom every day.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
